MEALS-ON-WHEELS LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE AND LOGO TO COMMEMORATE OVER 51 YEARS OF SERVICE

San Diego, CA– Meals-on-Wheels (MOW), Greater San Diego is proud to announce the launch of their new website, www.meals-on-wheels.org, and logo to commemorate over 51 years of service. The introduction of the website and logo reflects the new vision of the organization, which proudly supports the rapid growth in services and amount of people being served within the San Diego County.

More and more seniors are online today and MOW is making it easier for those seniors to browse through their site.  New upgrades not only benefit seniors, but also to make it easier to volunteer, donate and sign up for meals. The new MOW site has had over 21,000 visits so far, an increase of 69 percent from the month before.

The first new feature of the upgraded site is the ability to easily and conveniently change the font size of the site’s content. Major improvements were also made to the site’s including adding a new meal sign-up page, now the most popular destination on the site.  Also, MOW now has a full in-take form on the site that sits on a HIPA certified server, allowing for more security and protection of all personal and medical information.

Improvements of the site have also made it very easy for volunteers to sign up with MOW. This section now provides information on the various volunteer opportunities with MOW from volunteering as an individual, as a group or business, or with the MOW Jr. Street Team, a new volunteer group for students elementary through high school.

Donating to the MOW has been made easier as well. As a non-profit organization, MOW Greater San Diego relies on support from the community and not on direct government funding. Approximately 37 percent of its revenue is from fees for service, with the remaining 63 percent donated by various constituencies in the community. The organization is concentrating on expanding services to meet the needs of the growing senior population as Baby Boomers reach retirement age, so please visit the website today to make a donation that will benefit seniors across our county.
