Job Title: Hispanic Community Outreach Specialist – Part Time (25 hours a week) – Posted 9/15/2011 Applications accepted through 10/1/2011

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Development Director, the Hispanic Community Outreach Specialist helps to plan and is directly responsible for the following:

 

  • Collaborate with President & CEO, Director of Development  and other appropriate staff to coordinate strategic plan for Community Outreach within the San Diego Hispanic community
  • Research, analyze and recommend various community outreach methods to support the successful launch of new “Healthy Latin Cuisine” menu offering
  • Assist in the development of Spanish language collateral marketing materials and web content
  • Advocate, educate and create alliances, sponsorships and partnerships within the San Diego Hispanic Community at large including companies and organizations wishing to participate in cause marketing or directly help serve more Hispanic seniors
  • Collaborate with Meals-on-Wheels nutritionist and Meal Center to create and promote the nutritional and flavor value of current and future menu offerings
  • Work with grant writer and Development Director to compile reports and provide updates regarding new community immersion program

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in Hispanic marketing preferred
  • Experience in a non-for-profit or corporate setting with similar responsibility and/or experience
  • Fluent in English and Spanish,  both oral and written
  • Ability to make presentations to various size groups
  • Excellent personal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with volunteers preferred
  • Ability to work in a busy environment and meet deadlines
  • Comfortable in front of the media; participating in TV and radio interviews
  • An understanding of Hispanic culture, influences and traditions
  • Experience with website and social media a plus
