March for Mayors
March 24, 2010

In 2006, MOWAA introduced a new component of the March For Meals campaign called
Mayors For Meals. On March 24 2010, mayors and local elected officials across
the country deliver meals with their MOW program to seniors in their community. Mayors
For Meals garners media attention both locally and nationally and helps raise public
awareness about senior hunger. This past year MOWAA set a new record when 1,552 U.S.
mayors delivered meals for their local MOW programs on March 18, 2009. Not only did
Mayors For Meals 2009 make a difference on a local level, but the national event also
garnered attention across the country.
