Anne and her husband, Larry, planned a life of traveling after Larry’s retirement, until they were at least 85. They had been living in a small teardrop trailer in Vista that would be their home on wheels as they toured the country. These plans came to a sudden halt seven years ago when Larry had a massive heart attack that took his life.
After Anne began receiving hot meals, along with friendly social visits and safety checks from our staff and volunteers, she improved both physically and emotionally. Without Meals on Wheels, Anne feels certain her health would falter and her depression would deepen. Before receiving Meals on Wheels, her biggest fear was she would not be able to stay in the home she shared with Larry and that she would lose her independence.
Seniors like Anne look forward to our visits and the food that fills their plates and nourishes their existence. We need your assistance now. Help us fill our plates so the seniors we serve will continue to live a fulfilling life in their own home, where they want to be. Please give so we may be there for the seniors we serve today, and not turn anyone away who needs meals and a hug, tomorrow.
