GENERAL LANGUAGE

A bequest made through a provision in your will or revocable trust:

  • Is easy to arrange;
  • Will not alter your current lifestyle in any way;
  • Can be easily modified to address your changing needs;
  • May be given to honor the donor or memorialize a loved one.

SPECIFIC BEQUEST

You may name Meals on Wheels Greater San Diego, Inc. (dba Meals on Wheels San Diego County), as a beneficiary of a specific amount from your estate. This is called a specific bequest.

“I give to the Meals-on-Wheels Greater San Diego, Inc., (dba Meals on Wheels San Diego County), Federal Tax I.D. number 95-2660509, located at 2254 San Diego Ave., Suite 200, San Diego, California 92110-2944, the sum of $____ to be used as its Board of Directors deem advisable for the benefit of seniors in San Diego County.

RESIDUARY BEQUEST

A residuary bequest comes to Meals on Wheels San Diego County after your estate expenses and specific bequests are paid. It allows you to designate Meals on Wheels as the recipient of all or a portion of the residue of your estate.

“I give to Meals-on-Wheels Greater San Diego, Inc., (dba Meals on Wheels San Diego County), Federal Tax I.D. number 95-2660509, located at 2254  San Diego Ave., Suite 200, San Diego, California 92110-2944, [the residue of my estate / _____ % of the residue of my estate] to be used as its Board of Directors deem advisable for the benefit of seniors in San Diego County.”

CONTINGENT BEQUEST

A contingent bequest enables you to name Meals on Wheels San Diego County as an alternate beneficiary of all or of a portion of your estate, which means Meals on Wheels will receive the bequest only if your primary beneficiary or beneficiaries do not survive you.

“If ________ is not living at the time of my death, I give to Meals-on-Wheels Greater San Diego, Inc., (dba Meals on Wheels San Diego County), Federal Tax I.D. number 95-2660509, located at 2254  San Diego Ave., Suite 200, San Diego, California 92110-2944, [the sum of $________/ the residue of my estate/ ______% of the residue of my estate] to be used as its Board of Directors deem advisable for the benefit of seniors in San Diego County.”

PROPERTY BEQUEST

“I hereby give to Meals-on-Wheels Greater San Diego, Inc., (dba Meals on Wheels San Diego County), Federal Tax I.D. number 95-2660509, located at 2254 San Diego Ave., Suite 200, San Diego, California 92110-2944, the property herein described to be used as its Board of Directors deem advisable for the benefit of seniors in San Diego County.”

Current and future estate gifts may also be restricted to our Endowment Fund, legally designated as the Hattie Brooks Endowment Fund.
